Sandip Ghosh provided deceptive answers in polygraph test

The CBI has taken Sandip Ghosh into remand and according to the remand note, the polygraph test report prepared by CFSL (Central Forensic Science Laboratory) indicates that several answers provided by Sandip Ghosh were deceptive and aimed at misleading the investigation. Crucially, these questions were highly significant for the case.

As per the CBI, the former principal of R G Kar Medical College was informed about the incident at 9.58am. However, despite receiving the information, he did not immediately visit the hospital. Moreover, Ghosh did not file a formal complaint immediately. Instead, a vague complaint was later submitted through the college’s vice-principal. According to the CBI, there was no immediate attempt to file an FIR. Instead, a suicide theory was quickly formulated, despite external injuries on the victim’s body that clearly indicated it was not a case of suicide.

The complaint copy that the vice-principal sent to officer-in-charge Abhijit Mondal of Tala Police Station reads: “As our Associate Professor Dr Sumit Roy Tapadar from the Department of Respiratory Medicine informed you over the phone at 9.45am, the body of a second-year female PGT student was found in the chest seminar room. You are requested to register an FIR and take necessary action in this matter.”

Meanwhile, a court on Sunday sent Abhijit Mondal and Sandip Ghosh to CBI custody till September 17. They were arrested by the federal agency on charges of tampering with the evidence in the rape and murder of the PGT doctor at RG Kar.
