Bengaluru: The city police on Wednesday filed a charge sheet against Kannada film actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, his friend Pavithra Gowda, and 15 others in the Renukaswamy murder case before a city court.

Bengaluru Police has filed a 3,991-page charge sheet before a city court

The 3,991-page charge sheet by the city police was submitted to the 24th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court. The charge sheet in the case comprises statements of 231 witnesses and technical and electronic evidence. 56 police officers have been named among the witnesses in the case.

Darshan, his friend Pavithra and 15 others are accused in the alleged murder case of 33-year-old Renukaswamy and they are currently lodged in the judicial custody in different prisons of Karnataka.

As per reports, Renukaswamy was fan of film star Darshan and he allegedly made derogatory comments against Darshan’s friend Pavithra on social media and it allegedly enraged Darshan, allegedly leading to his murder. The post-mortem report of deceased Renukaswamy revealed that he died due to shock and haemorrhage as a result of multiple blunt injuries.

The police said in a statement that the charge sheet against the 17 accused, including actor Darshan, has been filed on the basis of the eye-witnesses account, circumstantial, technical, scientific and other evidence that was collected by the investigators while investigating the case.

A ‘watertight’ charge sheet was prepared after probing the case from all aspects: Bengaluru Police Commissioner

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda told reporters that a “watertight” charge sheet was prepared after probing the case from all aspects.

“We have arrested 17 people in this case who are in judicial custody. There are three direct eye witnesses; 27 witnesses have given their statements before the court and other witnesses have recorded their statements before the police,” the police commissioner said and added, “We have sent several materials pertaining to the investigation to FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) here and CFSL (Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Hyderabad). We have received their reports but some reports from CFSL are yet to come,” news agency PTI reported.
