‘Remember the name’: Cricket fans praise Sarfaraz Khan’s incredible fightback

New Delhi: Sarfaraz Khan notched up his maiden international hundred on Day 4 of the first Test match between India and New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday. He recently scored a double-century in the Irani Cup for Mumbai and continued his sensational form in the Bengaluru Test.

He was dismissed for a three-ball duck in the first innings but made a brilliant comeback in the second innings. Sarfaraz came out to bat after the dismissal of Rohit Sharma and stitched a crucial 136-run partnership with Kohli.

He remained unbeaten on 70 runs at the stumps on Day 3. Sarfaraz completed his first Test century off 112 balls. His remarkable knock was laced with 13 boundaries and three maximums. He replaced Shubman Gill in the playing XI and made most of the opportunity.

Earlier, Indian bowlers conceded 356 runs lead in the first innings. Conway and Tom Latham started well and stitched a 67-run partnership for the first wicket. Kuldeep dismissed Latham but Conway continued his brilliant form and built another 75-run partnership with Will Young.

The Men in Blue made a strong comeback and picked up quick wickets on day 3 morning but Rachin and Southee stitched an outstanding 137-run partnership for the eighth wicket. Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal provided Team India a watchful start in the second innings.

Ajaz Patel removed both openers but Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan built a 136-run partnership for the third wicket. Glenn Phillips removed Kohli on the last ball of the day. But Pant and Sarfaraz started brilliantly on Day 4.
