Kolkata: The investigation of the murder case of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi has led to the discovery of the murder weapon. Shillong Police, who are investigating the case, have found a country-made pistol from a drain in Indore. The discovery was made after police interrogated property broker Shilom James and flat owner Lokendra Singh Tomar.
Along with the pistol, the police recovered two magazines and ammunition that were purchased by Raj and kept ready to kill Raja if the other attempt failed. East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Siyem said, “On Wednesday afternoon, as per the lead provided by Shilom James, a country-made pistol with two magazines and two .32 ammunition were recovered by the SIT from a stream and Rs 50,000 from his car which he had taken out from the laptop bag of Raj. The bag was burnt, and the laptop was thrown by the roadside and could not be found.”
According to a report by the Times of India, Shilom has confessed to the police that he threw the bag in a nullah behind the Industry House. As per police, the bag had Rs 5 lakh in cash, Sonam’s jewellery, a country-made pistol and her clothes, all items were linked to the probe.
During the probe, one of the arrested accused, Vishal alias Vicky Chauhan, a hitman that Sonam allegedly hired to kill Raja confessed that he had booked an online auto from his Indore residence to Sonam’s hideout in the same city with a black bag. The police have flown Shilom James, Lokendra Tomar, and Balvinder Ahirwar to Shillong and on Thursday, they will be produced before the court and taken on remand.
