New Delhi: Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is set to visit Madhya Pradesh on June 3 to launch the Congress party’s “Sangathan Srajan Abhiyan” (Organisational Creation Campaign).

During his visit, Gandhi will chair several important meetings with party members, including sessions with the State Working Committee, Executive Committee, and Political Affairs Committee, as explained by Madhya Pradesh Congress Chief Jitu Patwari to IANS.

Additionally, Gandhi will hold discussions with 50 members appointed by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in an introductory session following the creation of the new party organisation in Madhya Pradesh.

Madhya Pradesh Congress Chief Jitu Patwari stated that the “Sangathan Srajan Abhiyan” (Organisational Creation Campaign) is primarily aimed at ensuring the Congress party’s strong presence across Madhya Pradesh. The campaign will involve a number of observers, including MPs, MLAs, and ministers from various states, to highlight the party’s strength in each Assembly constituency.

Abhiyan launched to strengthen organisation at the grassroots level

The Congress party has faced a series of setbacks in the state. It suffered a significant defeat in the 2023 Assembly elections, winning just 66 out of 234 seats. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured all 29 of Madhya Pradesh’s Parliamentary seats.

Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming visit marks his first to the state after the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections. His visit comes just days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s high-profile visit to Madhya Pradesh on May 31.

On Tuesday, Gandhi is scheduled to officially launch the campaign in a state where the Congress has seen its influence diminish, especially since the fall of its government in 2020.

“The abhiyan is being launched to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level and instill enthusiasm among party workers. We have not been in power in Madhya Pradesh for a long time,” said former state party chief Arun Yadav and former minister Sajjan Verma on Monday.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the first phase of the Indore Metro and launch two new airports in the state.
