‘Pyaar ka panchayat’: Woman marries lover in Bihar village, husbands says ‘no objection’

Vaishali: A strange case of love and separation came to light from Chaksikander Mansoorpur village in Vaishali district of Bihar. A mother of three children was caught in an objectionable condition with her lover, Rupesh Ram, by villagers. When the situation escalated, Rupesh called a panchayat meeting.

In the presence of the villagers and the woman’s husband Ramesh Ram, Rupesh filled the woman’s ‘maang’ with vermillion, officially marrying her in front of everyone. Ramesh, standing nearby, said he had no objection to their marriage and agreed to let his wife go with Rupesh. He only requested to keep the children with him.

The woman, Paro Devi, then revealed that her youngest child was actually Rupesh’s. Rupesh also accepted this. However, there is still confusion about who will keep the children, as Rupesh wants to take all three.

According to Ramesh, Rupesh had been in a relationship with his wife for two years and had trapped other women before as well. He said he is financially weak but still wants to raise the children himself.

Rupesh said he had helped Paro financially by giving her Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 because Ramesh didn’t earn much. He claimed he had also given her many household items. Their houses were just half a kilometer apart, and their relationship grew from frequent meetings.
