Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that Pongal reflects the national spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ and the same emotional connect was also seen in Kashi-Tamil Sangam and Saurashtra-Tamil Sangam. Addressing the Pongal celebrations organized at the residence of Union Minister L. Murugan in the national capital, Modi said festive fervor was being seen in every household in Tamil Nadu and wished happiness, prosperity and satisfaction in the lives of all people. Equating India’s diversity with ‘Kolam’ (Rangoli), the Prime Minister said that when every corner of the country connects emotionally with each other, the strength of the country is visible in a new form.
“The festival of Pongal reflects the national spirit of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat,” Modi said, adding that the same spirit was seen in the tradition started by the Kasi-Tamil Sangam and Saurashtra-Tamil Sangam, in which Enthusiastic participation of a large number of people from the Tamil community was recorded. The Prime Minister said, “This spirit of unity is the biggest strength for building a developed India by 2047.” The main element of the Panch Pran which I had called for from the Red Fort is to energize and strengthen the unity of the country.
