Let’s have a look at how things went, as there were some controversies as well as some big results in between these three fixtures.

Full-time at Selhurst Park as Tottenham suffered yet another road loss after Jean-Philippe Mateta’s first-half goal gave Crystal Palace and Oliver Glasner their first Premier League victory of the year. The Eagles advanced and were worthy winners for the entire ninety minutes on the day the clocks were switched back.

Spurs had little attacking edge despite their valiant attempts to equalize in the second half, as the home team defended firmly and they hardly generated any chances. Over the course of the match, Palace produced the better openings and may have won by more goals on a different day. Massive concerns are now surrounding the Tottenham locker room as tonight’s performance has to be one of their worst so far this season. Lacking the creativity and the finishing touch means that Ange Postecoglu needs to have a major impact in the locker room.

With a well-earned 2-1 victory over Newcastle at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea advanced into the Premier League’s top four. Eddie Howe’s Magpies appeared unusually restless as the game progressed, as the Blues dominated and controlled possession in the opening half. With six minutes remaining, Cole Palmer, who is always keen to make an impression, had the ball in the net, but the goal was disallowed due to an offside during the build-up.

Chelsea, though, didn’t hesitate to move forward. After a swift counterattack, Palmer unleashed Pedro Neto down the left wing, who squared to Nicolas Jackson for a tap in. Palmer had the final say, but Alexander Isak pulled one back with an uncomfortable equalizer to put the teams on even terms going into the half. He slid past Nick Pope to give the home team the victory less than two minutes after the restart.

With all of the goals coming late in the game, the Hammers defeated United 2-1 to record their third victory of the season. Casemiro appeared to have given United a point when he headed in from close range at the other end after Crysencio Summerville had slid in the first goal for the home team at the far post.

However, Jarrod Bowen scored the ensuing penalty to give the Hammers the win late in the game after Matthijs de Ligt was found to have fouled Danny Ings in the box during stoppage time. There were a few controversies as manager Eric Ten Hag was clearly not happy with the decision, that led to the final minute goal from Bowen, that took the Hammers to 13th spot, right above their opponents United who slip down to 14th now.
