‘Prasad can’t enter without permission of insiders’: Maurya on Tirupati Laddoo row

Lucknow: Former Uttar Pradesh minister and Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party (RSSP) leader Swami Prasad Maurya on Monday called the reports of related Tirupati Balaji temple unfortunate and alleged that prasadam cannot enter the temple without the permission of priests or religious leaders.

Launching a serious attack on the authorities of the Temple, he alleged the entry of the adulterated prasadam was now way without their knowledge and that “they are also involved in the entire incident”. Pointing out that there are similar reports from Ayodhya Ram Mandir, Maurya blamed Hindu religious leaders, priests, and seers for this incident. The former minister further observed that the enemies of Hinduism are none other than saints, priests, and contractors of this religion. He added that those who are contractors of Sanatan Dharma are behind in mixing animal fat in ghee used in the preparation of laddoo in Tirupati Balaji temple.

TTD announces establishment of a panel

Earlier on Sunday, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which is responsible for overseeing Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple in Tirumala, announced the establishment of the panel which has been asked to check the quality of food offerings. The step was taken amid allegations of adulteration in ghee used in preparation of laddu prasadam. Addressing an on Sunday, TTD Executive Officer J Shyamala Rao said that the panel will check food samples based on their taste, aroma, and texture.

CM Chandrababu Naidu forms SIT

In the meantime, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the allegations. The move came amid allegations that animal fat was used in preparation ghee, a report by NDTV said.

Recently, the Telugu Desam Party had accused Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, ex-chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust and former Executive Officer A.V. Dharma Reddy of committing irregularities in the management of the temple for last five years. The party also said that they would be “held accountable” for these actions.
