New Delhi: In a historic display of military might and a testament to India’s evolving defence capabilities, the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force will engage in a joint, theatre command-level war game in the Eastern Command from November 10 to 18.
Dubbed “Poorvi Prahar” (Eastern Thrust), this nine-day exercise will span the challenging frontier landscape of Arunachal Pradesh, extending from the airfields of Assam to the valleys and mountains along the India-China border. The exercise will test the armed forces’ ability to operate in a complex and geographically demanding terrain.
The “Poorvi Prahar” exercise will focus on honing the capability of integrated joint operations, encompassing air, sea, and land elements. It will showcase the latest military technology and equipment, including fighter jets, reconnaissance aircraft, Chinook and Advance Light Helicopters, and the newly inducted M777 Ultra-Light Howitzer artillery systems.
The exercise will mark the first-ever participation of the Indian Navy’s P-8I Poseidon long-range patrol and reconnaissance aircraft in a tri-service exercise.
A key highlight of “Poorvi Prahar” will be the deployment of swarm drones, FPV drones, and loitering munitions. These advanced technologies will be tested in a real-world setting, demonstrating their potential to revolutionize modern warfare with enhanced situational awareness, precision, and speed.
The exercise will also focus on refining the “common operating picture,” utilizing devices operating on satellite communications and incorporating AI-driven analytics. Joint control structures will be established to optimize communication and coordination across all branches of the armed forces.
The deployment of the ultra-light M777 howitzers, which can be swiftly deployed by Chinook helicopters, is expected to be a key strategic component of the exercise, showcasing the flexibility and agility of the Indian military in deploying artillery assets.
