Dehradun: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to Gangotri-Harshil area has aroused fresh hopes for development of Gangotri shrine on the pattern of Badrinath and Kedarnath shrines. The Prime Minister is likely to visit the Mukhaba temple, which is the winter seat of Maa Ganga, on April 27 to promote winter to promote winter tourism in the hill state.

PM Modi has been personally monitoring the infrastructure development in two shrines- Badrinath & Kedarnath. The works, under the Badrinath master plan, are getting implemented rapidly in Badrinath Dham.

Tourism and pilgrimage are the backbone of Uttarakhand and thus, the state government aims to use the proposed visit of Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Mukhba as a golden opportunity to promote winter tourism. The Char Dham yatra is witnessing constant growth in the number of arrival of devotees in the state following infrastructure development on Char Dham route. The Char Dham yatra, which attracts devotees from across the country, continues for about eight months every year.

Kedarnath attracts highest number of devotees

The new look of the Kedarnath shrine after infrastructure development has attracted devotees in a large number. After becoming Prime Minister, Modi has visited Kedarnath shrine several times. He has also visited Badrinath. His special focus on two shrines now reflects in the speedy development works there. However, the Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines are still waiting for the master plan of their development.

PM Modi’s proposed visit to Mukhba has given fresh hopes among local people for the much awaited development of Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines. Locals expect that PM Modi’s proposed visit to Mukhba during winter tourism season will also add charm to winter stay in the state’s four shrines. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has requested PM Modi to visit Mukhba temple and Harshil area. In view of PM’s proposed visit, the state government has already given its special focus to Harshil-Gangotri area.
