Trump’s historic victory
In a remarkable political resurgence, Donald Trump, 78, has won the race to the White House, defeating his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris to become the 47th President of the United States. Trump, who previously served as the 45th President following his 2016 election victory, is set to start his new term on January 25. The victory makes Trump the first US President in over a century to return to office for a non-consecutive term. He lost to Joe Biden in the 2020 election, after which Kamala Harris assumed the role of vice president in January 2021.
