New York: Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again reiterated India’s support for an early resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and restoring peace and stability in the region as he met President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in New York on Tuesday.
The meeting came on the last leg of Modi’s packed US trip during which he addressed the UN’s Summit of Future. This was the third meeting between the Indian prime minister and Zelensky in three months amid renewed efforts for a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.
They previously met in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, on August 23 during the prime minister’s visit. Earlier in June, Modi had discussions with Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Apulia, Italy.
“Met President Zelenskyy in New York. We are committed to implementing the outcomes of my visit to Ukraine last month to strengthen bilateral relations. Reiterated India’s support for early resolution of the conflict in Ukraine and restoration of peace and stability,” PM Modi wrote in a post on X while sharing pictures from the meeting.

According to an official release, PM Modi reassured “India’s clear, consistent and constructive approach in favour of a peaceful resolution of the conflict through diplomacy and dialogue as well as engagement between all stakeholders”.
He also put across the point that New Delhi is open to providing “all support within its means to facilitate a lasting and peaceful resolution of the conflict”.
