New Delhi: On the occasion of Eid al-Adha (Bakrid), Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm wishes to people across the country on Saturday. In a post on X, PM Modi said, “May this occasion inspire harmony and strengthen the fabric of peace in our society. Wishing everyone good health and prosperity.”

Thousands of people gathered at Delhi’s Jama Masjid on the morning of Bakrid to offer Namaaz (prayer). Worshippers prayed for peace, unity, and prosperity. 

Best wishes on Eid ul-Adha. May this occasion inspire harmony and strengthen the fabric of peace in our society. Wishing everyone good health and prosperity.

Ahead of the celebrations, Delhi government issued a strict advisory urging people to maintain peace and follow certain rules, especially regarding animal sacrifices. The advisory clearly stated that no animal should be sacrificed on streets or in public places. Anyone found violating this rule may face legal action.

The government also banned the sacrifice of prohibited animals and asked the public to report any violations. Officials reminded citizens that these measures are in place to maintain social order and ensure animal welfare.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police and paramilitary forces were on high alert to ensure a peaceful festival. Around 36 paramilitary companies were deployed along with the local police. Special attention was given to minority-dominated and sensitive areas, where drone cameras were used for surveillance. Security teams began monitoring key locations a day before Bakrid to prevent any disturbances.
