New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin dialled Prime Minister Narendra Modi and denounced the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack which claimed 26 lives. He also pledged full support to India in its fight against terror, while offering his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the heinous attack.
In his call with PM Modi, Putin underlined that those behind the attack and their backer should be brought to justice.
“President Putin @KremlinRussia_E called PM @narendramodi and strongly condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam, India. He conveyed deepest condolences on the loss of innocent lives and expressed full support to India in the fight against terrorism. He emphasised that the perpetrators of the heinous attack and their supporters must be brought to justice,” Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a post on X.
The two leaders vowed their commitment to enhance strategic ties further. “PM conveyed greetings to President Putin on the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day and invited him for the Annual Summit to be held in India later in the year,” the MEA spokesperson added.
Putin’s support for India comes at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan are escalating due to the April 22 attack.
