Parliament session to start from January 31; Sitharaman to present her 8th budget

New Delhi: The Budget session of the Parliament will start from January 31 and will go on till April 4. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present her eighth budget on February. This will also be the second budget of the PM Narendra Modi-led Government since returning to power for the third time last year.

Sharing the information, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju wrote on X, “The Honourable President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu ji on the recommendation of the Government of India, has approved summoning both Houses of Parliament for the Budget Session 2025 from 31st January 2025 to 4th April 2025 (subject to exigencies of parliamentary business)”

Parliament to go on break from February 13

After the President’s address, the government will table the economic survey on January 31. The Parliament will have nine sitting during the first part of the session. The first sitting  of the budget session will end February 13.

The Hon’ble President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu ji on the recommendation of the Government of India, has approved summoning both Houses of Parliament for the Budget Session 2025 from 31st January, 2025 to 4th April 2025 (subject to exigencies of parliamentary business).

It will be during this time that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reply to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address. Sitharaman will also reply during the discussions on the budget during the session.

Budget session to have 27 sittings

After this, the Parliament will go on break before starting again on March 10. During the break, the parties are expected to discuss the budget proposals. During the second sitting of the session, the budgetary process is expected to be completed. While the entire budget session is expected to have 27 sittings, the session will end on April 4.
