New Delhi: Pakistani terrorist Hashim Musa, who is believed to be behind the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, was a para commando with Pakistani forces at one point in time. The probe by Indian agencies, after the terror attack that killed 26 civilians, has confirmed the direct involvement of the Pakistani Army and the ISI.
According to a report by ‘The Times of India’, Musa is currently a key operative of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a Pakistan-based terrorist group. He was sent by Pakistan authorities to carry out terror attacks in the valley, the report added.
Senior authorities might have included Musa in LeT
Speaking to the paper, one of the security officials said that the special forces of Pakistan like the Special Service Group might have played a key role in including him in LeT. It is important here to note that SSG is known for its highly trained para-commandos, who play a role in unconventional warfare and covert operations. The investigation of 15 Kashmiri overground workers (OGWs), who are suspected of having helped Pakistani terrorists with logistics, pointed out ISI’s direct involvement in terror attacks in Kashmir and other terror attacks in Kashmir.
India, Pakistan ties have nosedived in recent days
Meanwhile, the ties between India and Pakistan have further deteriorated after the terror attack, with India announcing a number of decisions. Among its decisions included the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, sending Pakistani citizens back to the country within the stipulated time, and reducing its staff strength in the Pakistan embassy, among other steps. Pakistan has also closed its airspace for Indian airlines. Notably, Pakistani forces also violated the ceasefire for the fifth successive yesterday last night across the LoC, to which Indian forces gave a befitting reply.
