New Delhi: Amid rising India-Pakistan tensions following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, on April 22nd, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has taken a firm stance against Pakistan and offered a pointed message to the Indian government.
The Hyderabad MP contends that there is no support for Pakistan among the people of Kashmir, citing the widespread mourning and protests that erupted in the valley after the attack in which 235 tourists and one Kashmri was killed.

In a video interview with news agency PTI, Owaisi characterised the current situation in Kashmir valley as a “historic opportunity” for Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. He urged the government to decisively “confront Pakistan” but critically, to also “adopt Kashmiris.”
“”In fact, it is a historic opportunity for the government, for Prime Minister Modi, for Home Minister Amit Shah. They should use this opportunity properly. You should definitely confront Pakistan but you should also adopt Kashmiris,” Owaisi said.
When pressed on what he meant by “adopt,” Owaisi clarified that it entails ensuring the protection of human rights, safeguarding the rights of Kashmiri residents, and preventing attacks on Kashmiri students in other parts of India. He stressed the importance of not abandoning the Kashmiri people.
“There was maatam (mourning) in every Kashmiri household. They should get their rights, Kashmiri students shouldn’t be attacked in other parts of the country”.
Owaisi elaborated on his distrust of Pakistan, describing its “unwritten ideology” as one focused on fostering instability, creating communal divisions, and hindering India’s economic progress, a strategy he believes dates back to the tribal invasions of Jammu and Kashmir post-independence. He maintained that trust in Pakistan is impossible as long as the “Pakistani deep state,” including the ISI and military, remains committed to destabilizing India.
“You can never trust Pakistan as long as the Pakistani deep state, Pakistani ISI, Pakistani military’s objective is to destabilise Bharat,” Owaisi added.
