New Delhi: A chaos broke out in the Parliament as Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman started her Budget speech on Friday. Opposition parties lead by Samajwadi Party (SP) MPs staged a walkout demanding the releases of the list of people who lost their lives in the Maha Kumbh stampede.

Sitharaman continued her budget speech as Akhilesh Yadav-led SP MPs continued to shout slogans over Maha Kumbh stampede. Later, the Opposition MPs returned to the House after registering a ‘symbolic’ protest.

On Wednesday, between 1 am and 2 am at Maha Kumbh at least 30 people were killed in a stampede after a huge crowd broke through barriers and trampled over devotees who had been waiting overnight at the ghats to take a holy dip on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya.

“The government had distributed invitations for the Maha Kumbh. It was said that 40 to 45 crore people will be allowed to take baths. It was claimed that world-class arrangements would be made. What were the arrangements when the invitations were given?” PTI quoted Akhilesh Yadav.
