New Delhi: The US Embassy in Pakistan has issued a warning for American citizens after India carried out Operation Sindoor, a military action aimed at destroying terror camps in Pakistan. The US said it is keeping a close watch on the situation and urged Americans to avoid areas where conflict may happen.
The security notice, titled ‘Military Activity and Closed Airspace’, mentioned reports about Indian military action inside Pakistan. “This is a developing situation and we are carefully observing what is happening,” the alert stated.
It also reminded American citizens of the existing ‘Do Not Travel’ warning for areas near the India-Pakistan border and the Line of Control due to risks of terrorism and possible military clashes. Additionally, the ‘Reconsider Travel’ advisory for all of Pakistan remains in effect from the US State Department.
Sweden, Australia also issue warning
After US, now Australia and Sweden have also issued advisory and warned against travel to Pakistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Balochistan, and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). The Government Offices of Sweden said in its statement, “Due to the security situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against all travel to the provinces of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan in Pakistan, as well as non-essential travel to the Pakistan-controlled part of Kashmir. The decision to advise against it was made on 7 May 2025. The advice is in effect until further notice.”
Meanwhile, the Australian government said, “Australia is engaging with India and Pakistan in response to recent developments in Jammu and Kashmir. We don’t want to see escalatory actions, which pose a risk to regional peace and security. Australians in affected areas should monitor updated Smartraveller advice.”
Operation Sindoor: India strikes Pakistan
Early Wednesday morning, Indian forces carried out precise missile strikes on nine locations connected to terror groups in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). The strikes happened around 1:44 am and hit places like Muridke and Bahawalpur, which are known to house groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.
These strikes were India’s response to the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that took place on April 22. In that attack, 26 people lost their lives, including 25 Indian citizens and one person from Nepal.
In a statement, the Indian Defence Ministry said, “Our strikes were targeted and controlled. We made sure not to hit any Pakistani military base. India has shown restraint while choosing the targets and carrying out the mission.”
