Indigenous strategic assets, foreign satellites helped armed forces carry out ‘Operation Sindoor’: Report

New Delhi:  Following the Pahalgam terror attack, India’s Operation SINDOOR delivered a strong message to its adversaries that”terrorism will no longer go unanswered”. Conducted with “precision”, the  Indian Air Force targeted “terrorist infrastructure” in several parts of Pakistan.  From cross-border strikes inside Pakistan, the Indian government has highlighted several achievements of the operation Sindoor.

Here are the nine key achievements of Operation Sindoor

1. India successfully destroyed nine major terror launchpads across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) by targeting Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen. According to the government sources, over 100 terrorists were killed during the operation.

2. In a move that redefined strategic boundaries, Indian forces struck deep into Pakistan’s heartland, including Punjab province and the Bahawalpur region previously considered untouchable, even by US.

3. Operation SINDOOR introduced a doctrinal shift from deterrence to direct response. It drew a clear red line; if terror is pursued as state policy, it will invite a direct, visible, and powerful response.

4. For the first time, India targeted both terrorists and their state sponsors simultaneously, sending a message that the days of impunity for terror masterminds are over. This approach dismantled the long-standing firewall protecting Pakistan’s proxy actors, as said by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

5. The Indian Air Force bypassed and jammed Chinese-supplied air defence systems in Pakistan with cutting-edge Rafale jets, SCALP missiles and HAMMER bombs. The mission lasted just 23 minutes, exposing major vulnerabilities in Pakistan’s air shield and highlighting India’s technological superiority.

6. Despite the magnitude of the operation, India maintained strict discipline in its targeting as claimed by the defence ministry, avoiding civilian and conventional military assets.

7. The Indian government claimed that India neutralised several high-value terrorists in a single night, including Yusuf Azhar, Abdul Malik Rauf, and Mudassir Ahmad, people linked to the IC-814 hijacking and the Pulwama attack.

8. In a historic first, India became the only nation to strike 11 airbases of a nuclear-armed country in one operation. Roughly 20 per cent of Pakistan’s air force assets were destroyed. Significant damage was reported at Bhoolari Airbase, where Squadron Leader Usman Yusuf was among those killed.

9  Coordinated Tri-Service Action – The Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force worked in full coordination,
demonstrating India’s growing joint military prowess.
