New Delhi: In a shocking incident reported from Delhi’s Mahipalpur, a Thar driver ran over a security guard, allegedly for opposing honking. The security guard is employed at the Delhi Airport and was returning home after a night shift, when the incident took place.
Guard was returning home after duty at IGI airport
Bihar native, Rajiv Kumar was returning to his house in Mahipalpur after completing a night shift at Delhi Airport’s Terminal 3. While crossing the road, having been dropped at by a cab near his home, a SUV driver began honking loudly from behind. When Kumar asked him to stop honking, the car driver, identified as Vijay reportedly asked him for the baton he was carrying. When Kumar refused to comply, the driver was enraged.
When Kumar refused to part with his baton, the car driver allegedly threatened to run him over. As Rajiv Kumar was crossing the road, the driver hit him with his car, causing him to fall to the ground, shouting in pain. But that was not all, the car driver then reversed his car, as the guard lay on the road and once again ran over the man.
The victim’s legs were crushed under the wheels of the car and he has suffered multiple fractures. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and the driver fled the spot. The video of the incident was captured on CCTV and has now gone viral.
Police have arrested the SUV driver, Vijay. The arrest came within 6 hours of the incident. The accused is in custody and will be charged under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
