Nowshera: As the vote counting is underway in Jammu and Kashmir, the latest trends as of 12 noon showed that Congress and Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (NC) alliance had gained significant momentum.
Surinder Kumar Choudhary, NC candidate, was leading in the Nowshera seat with 30,883 votes. He maintained a huge lead over Ravinder Raina from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who trailed behind with 20,390 votes, leaving a margin of over 10,000 votes between them.
Who’s leading and who’s trailing in Nowshera
NC candidate Surinder Kumar Choudhary is ahead giving a tough competition to BJP’s Ravinder Raina. Other candidates in the race lagged even further. Manohar Singh of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) was far behind, securing only 1,341 votes, while Haq Nawaz from Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) garnered just 363 votes.
Shiv Dev Sharma, another candidate, trailed with 258 votes, though his numbers remained much lower than the top contenders.
What EC trends state
According to the Election Commission’s initial trends, the Congress-NC alliance was leading in 52 seats across the UT till 12 noon. Despite the BJP’s efforts, they were only leading in 25 seats, while the PDP was ahead in just 4.
These early trends indicated that Congress-NC alliance had a strong showing, while BJP faced tough competition. The final results are dependent on the remaining rounds of vote counting.
