New Delhi: Political strategist-turned-Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor launched a scathing attack on Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar following his absence from the 10th NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting held on Saturday in New Delhi. Kishor questioned the CM’s health, mental fitness, and political priorities, alleging that Kumar skipped a crucial development-focused gathering in favour of political negotiations.
“Nitish Kumar didn’t attend the meeting as he is not physically and medically fit,” Kishor claimed while speaking to reporters. “If you see it from another perspective, the CM of the poorest state, Bihar, didn’t attend the meeting, which was meant for the state’s development. Yet, he went to the NDA’s chief ministers and deputy CMs meeting to bargain for more seats for JD(U) in the upcoming Bihar elections,” he added.

Kishor takes dig at Kumar’s cognitive abilities
Kishor’s remarks did not stop at physical health. He took a direct dig at Kumar’s cognitive abilities, suggesting the veteran leader is no longer mentally sharp. “His mind is not working. A student from a common family has to take physical and medical tests to pass an exam, but the state’s CM, who doesn’t even remember his own name, faces no such scrutiny.”
He further accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of sustaining Kumar’s position as CM purely out of political necessity. “BJP has imposed such a person on Bihar because they have 12 Lok Sabha seats and depend on his support. It’s their compulsion to project him as the CM face till the elections — otherwise, he might switch sides again.”
Tej Pratap removal family affair
Meanwhile, commenting on the expulsion of Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, from the Rashtriya Janata Dal, Kishor dismissed it as a “family affair” and questioned its relevance to Bihar’s pressing concerns.
“What does Bihar have to do with Lalu Yadav removing someone from the party and family? If Lalu had announced any competent leader from the Yadav caste — except Tejashwi Yadav — as the CM face, Jan Suraaj would consider supporting that move,” he said, slamming the RJD for practising dynastic politics under the guise of caste representation.
