‘No place in Parliament’: Robert Vadra slams Kangana Ranaut’s farmers’ protest remarks

New Delhi: Businessman and husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has criticised BJP MP Kangana Ranaut for her remarks about the farmers’ protest. Vadra voiced his strong disapproval of Ranaut’s participation in Parliament, responding to her recent comments on the issue.

“I respect her but I feel that she has no place in the Parliament, ” Vadra questioned her educational qualifications and implied that she prioritises her personal interests over the welfare of the public. “She should also think about women,” he added, urging that women’s safety and representation are crucial.

Ranaut’s comments on protests draw sharp rebuke

Earlier this week, the Mandi MP claimed that the farmers’ protest against the now-repealed farm laws could have led to a “Bangladesh-like situation” in India without strong leadership. She also alleged that “bodies were hanging and rapes were taking place” during the protest. In response, the saffron party swiftly distanced itself from her remarks, expressing “strong disagreement.”

Vadra urges men to champion women’s safety

Vadra urged men across the country to prioritise women’s safety and to ensure that female politicians, including those from the BJP, actively advocate for women’s issues. “Nowadays, we need to be concerned about women; what is happening with them is wrong,” Vadra stated. “I request all men in our country to think about the safety of women,” he added.

Although Vadra expressed respect for Ranaut, he argued that her qualifications and approach are not suitable for a parliamentary role. “I respect her, but I believe she has no place in Parliament. She lacks the necessary education, and there is no justification for her presence there,” Vadra concluded.
