New Delhi: New Zealand defeated India by 113 runs in the second Test match at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Saturday, October 26. The Blackcaps created history and won their first Test series in India.

The Blackcaps were favourites to win the match after India’s failure with the bat in the first innings. New Zealand scored 255 runs in the second innings and were in the dominant position of winning the match. Tom Latham led from the front and scored 86 runs off 133 balls on a difficult surface. Tom Blundell and Glenn Phillips also made crucial contributions with the bat. Washington Sundar was the star performer for India with the ball again and picked up six wickets.

Chasing the target of 358 runs, Santner dismissed Rohit Sharma on 8 runs but Yashasvi Jaiswal and Gill stitched a 62-run partnership for the second wicket. Santner removed Kohli, Jaiswal and Gill and put the hosts under immense pressure. Glenn Phillips dismissed Sundar on 21 runs. Ravindra Jadeja tried to built a partnership with Ashwin and Akash Deep but Kiwi bowlers did exceptionally well as Rohit and Co. bundled out for 245 runs.
