New Delhi: Amid the rising tensions between India and Pakistan, trains departing from Amritsar during night have been canceled, though the trains operating in the day time won’t be affected. The decision comes in the wake of continuation of night blackouts in the Punjab district.
Authorities are taking precaution to ensure the safety of passengers along with the railway infrastructure. On Saturday, Western Railways decided to short terminate and short originate plenty of Amritsar-bound trains as a precautionary step, as per a report by Financial Express.
This includes trains like Indore-Amritsar Express (Train No. 19325) and Mumbai Central-Amritsar Golden Temple Mail (Train No. 12903) will short terminate. The Indore-Amritsar Express, which commenced on May 9, will short terminate at Ambala Cantonment in Haryana instead of proceeding to Amritsar (the final destination). Likewise, the train between Mumbai and Amritsar will short terminate at Hazrat Nizamuddin between May 9 and May 12. This is a temporary suspension of its moment in the Punjab region.
The 12904 Amritsar-Mumbai Central Golden Temple Mail, scheduled between May 11 and 14, will short originate from Hazrat Nizamuddin, avoiding the usual starting point in Amritsar for the time being.

“In one such incident, today at approximately 5 AM, Multiple enemy armed drones were spotted flying over Khasa Cantt, Amritsar. The hostile drones were instantly engaged and destroyed by our air defence units,” the Army issued a statement on Saturday.
Amritsar has been kept on red alert after 15 drones were found in different parts of the city. As a part of another precautionary measure, Amritsar DC Sakshi Sawhney issued an order to ban the use of drones in the jurisdiction as it poses a potential threat to public safety, security, law and order, as reported by news agency PTI.
However, drones operated by law enforcement agencies, armed forces, or any other government agencies will be exempted. The drones have to be used with prior written permission from the District Magistrate or any other officer authorised by the district administration.
