National Games 2025: Registration system for Handball, Taekwondo & Volleyball decided

National Games 2025: Registration system for Handball, Taekwondo & Volleyball decided

Dehradun: The registration system for the five sports under the 38th National Games has been decided. The Games Technical Conduct Committee (GTCC), constituted by the Indian Olympic Association, has taken a decision in this regard.

While taking its decision on the registration system, the GTCC has also fixed the last date of entry for the state sports associations. The entry of the state sports associations will be in three phases from January 3 to 13. The registration system has been decided for the five sports- the handball, the beach handball, the taekwondo, the volleyball, and the beach volleyball.

Letter to NSF, SOA and SSCB

GTCC Chairperson Sunaina Kumari has sent a letter in this regard to the President, Secretary and Treasurer of NSF (National Sports Federations), SOA (State Sports Associations), and SSCB (Services Sports Control Board). “There was a need to build a consensus at the national level regarding these games. Now a decision has been taken on this at the GTCC level,” Uttarakhand Olympic Association General Secretary Dr. DK Singh said in a press release.

NSF to provide names of qualified athletes to SSA

Under the registration system, the names of qualified athletes will be provided by the National Sports Federations to the State Sports Associations concerned as per the guidelines of their respective sports. The sports list will be shared by the NSFs with the respective State Sports Associations.

Top seven teams of Handball and Beach Handball

Top seven teams, which participated in the 37th National Games- 2023 for Handball and Beach Handball sports, will be invited to participate in the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand.

The selection of athletes in Taekwondo

The selection of athletes in Taekwondo sport will be made in Dehradun by the selection committee constituted by the IOC/GTCC. These selections will be open to all Taekwondo athletes. For individual events, the top athletes (men and women) in each weight category will be eligible to represent their respective states. In team events, the selection committee will announce the ranking of the teams.

The top eight teams (men and women), each consisting of three athletes, will qualify. For the mixed pair event, the Selection Committee will declare the list of top eight pairs who will be eligible to participate.

Volleyball and Beach Volleyball teams

For Volleyball and Beach Volleyball teams, the state teams (except Gujarat) which participated in the 36th National Games-2022, will be invited to participate in the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand. The State Olympic Associations and the respective State Volleyball Associations have the right to conduct team selection trials for Volleyball and Beach Volleyball.

Uttarakhand is hosting the 38th National Games- 2025.
