Dehradun: A total of 1,200 specialized sports volunteers will be deployed for the National Games. These volunteers will be provided to Uttarakhand by the National Federation Sports of India. Additionally, Uttarakhand is selecting approximately 2,300 general volunteers. These specialized sports volunteers will be separate from the general volunteers but will also undergo training in behavior and etiquette alongside them.
Uttarakhand is hosting the 38th edition of the National Games, which will commence on January 28. To manage the various arrangements, two types of volunteers will contribute their services. The recruitment process for general volunteers is currently underway, with over 30,000 individuals having registered. All registered candidates have been provided online training and have undergone an online examination. Recruitment of general volunteers will be based on the examination results.
According to Prashant Arya, Additional Chief Executive Officer of the National Games Secretariat, specialized sports volunteers will also be deployed alongside the general volunteers. These volunteers, provided by the National Federation Sports of India, will be stationed at various locations.
Specialized Sports Volunteers: Key Features
The National Federation Sports of India provides these specialized sports volunteers. These volunteers, with a background in sports, have experience in national and international competitions. While general volunteers handle tasks such as parking, transportation, and other logistical arrangements, specialized volunteers are assigned responsibilities directly related to sports management.
According to Prateek Joshi, who oversees volunteer-related activities, specialized sports volunteers will receive a daily honorarium of ₹1,000. General volunteers will receive a daily honorarium of ₹500.
