New Delhi: There seems to be no respite from the bomb threats to flights.

In the recent one, a Mumbai-London Air India flight announced an emergency onboard after it received a bomb threat. In all, on Thursday, five Air India flights, two IndiGo and two Vistara flights were disrupted due to bomb threats. This adds to a growing list of bomb threat calls the airlines have received during the week

FlightRadar24, an online flight tracking website, showed that the Boeing 777 took off at 7:05 am (IST) from Mumbai and then circled over East England and announced an emergency. The AI129 plane announced an emergency an hour before it had to land at Heathrow Airport in London at 12:05 pm (UK time).

According to the latest information on the website, the aircraft is no longer ‘squawking 7700’ and is heading towards Heathrow for landing.

Vistara, IndiGo flights face similar threats

Earlier on Thursday, a Vistara flight bound for Mumbai with 147 persons aboard was taken to security checks immediately after its arrival from Frankfurt as the Boeing 787 received a bomb threat, the airline said. Around the same time, an IndiGo flight from Istanbul to Mumbai also received a bomb threat and was taken to an isolation bay for security check.

“The Vistara flight UK 028 operating from Frankfurt to Mumbai on October 16, 2024 was subject to a security threat received on social media,” the airline said. All relevant authorities were informed and the plane safely landed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai. “It was taken to the isolation bay where all customers were disembarked. We are fully cooperating with the security agencies to complete the mandatory security checks,” Vistara said in a statement.

In a statement, IndiGo said, “Flight 6E 18, operating from Istanbul to Mumbai, received a security-related alert. Upon landing, the aircraft was isolated, and all passengers were safely disembarked.”
