Mumbai: The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has once again launched its ‘Pawfect’ initiative under which nine emotional support dogs will be deployed as stress busters for passengers at the Terminal 2. Mumbai Airport has used this initiative earlier as well but was suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic. All the nine dogs are well trained and include a Maltese, a Golden Retriever, a Shih Tzu, a Labrador, a Lhasa Apso, and a rescued Husky.
The furry friends will be present at the departure areas of Terminal 2, including domestic Level 3 and post-immigration sections, between 3 pm and 1 pm from Friday to Sunday. Taking to its X handle, the Mumbai Airport confirmed the news and tweeted, “#MumbaiAirport is thrilled to announce the return of its wildly popular ‘Pawfect’ initiative. Ready to melt the travel stress away and turn the airport experience into a fun-filled adventure.”

The tweet further read, “From Friday to Sunday, between 3pm & 11 pm, these lovable emotional support companions will be waiting to greet travellers at Terminal 2. Get ready to be charmed and comforted by these furry ambassadors of happiness before embarking on your journey from our #GatewayToGoodness.”

Netizens hail initiative
Mumbai Airport shared the video in which a number of dogs can be seen interacting with several air passengers, including kids. Netizens have supported the initiative. An X user said, “Absolutely terrific initiative! One that would impact positively on the neural space of the dogs and passengers alike, but also help reduce chaos at airports.”
Meanwhile, another social media user wrote, “Such a fantastic initiative by Mumbai Airport! Bringing in emotional support dogs to make travel less stressful and more joyful is a beautiful idea.” another user commented.
An X user also advised the Mumbai Airport to add an Indie breed dog in the pack. He said, “That’s a great initiative..plz consider adding our Indie breed…they are super cute and smart as well.”
