Molester of Dehradun’s woman arrested after video went viral; prompts police action

Dehradun: A motorbike rider, who had molested a woman in Dehradun when she was walking with her daughter in lane outside her home, has been arrested by police after this video went viral on social media.

Based on the viral video, Dehradun police took the cognizance of this crime and swung into action to nab the accused. Taking immediate action on the instructions of SSP Dehradun, the police arrested the accused.

This video sparked an outrage among people

Amid rising crime against women in Uttarakhand, Dehradun Police has taken a prompt action nabbing the accused. In Dehradun’s Patel Nagar area, on 7 November, a woman was walking with her daughter when a bike rider came from the opposite side and groped the woman. Later, the video footage of this video went viral on social media platforms and sparked an outrage among the people. This video created a wave of anger and concern among the people. On social media, people have started prompt action against the accused.

SSP Dehradun took cognizance of this matter and ordered strict action

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dehradun, Ajay Singh took immediate action by forming a joint team from Patel Nagar police station and the Special Operations Group (SOG). He directed the police to take strict measures against the accused. The viral video clearly showed the scooter driver misbehaving with the woman, raising concerns about the police administration’s credibility. SSP Dehradun emphasized the police’s commitment to women’s safety and ordered immediate action. The joint team from Patel Nagar police station and SOG Dehradun investigated the video, identified the accused, and initiated the arrest process.

The accused was arrested by Police on Monday

After four days of incident on 7 November, the Dehradun police traced and arrested the accused on Monday, 11 November, identified as Kishan Singh, son of Govardhan Singh, from the village of Tolia in Lansdowne tehsil of Pauri Garhwal. The police also seized the scooter used in the incident.

Increasing crime against women in Uttarakhand

The crime against women in Uttarakhand is on rise. According to the annual report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), the rate of crime against women in the state has gone 77 percent higher in comparison to crime incidents in the last three years.
