New Delhi: Mock drills will be conducted in states bordering Pakistan on Thursday evening. The mock drills will be carried out in Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Jammu & Kashmir, sources said. People in these regions will be advised to remain vigilant during the drills.

Earlier, on May 7, the government carried out countrywide civil defence mock drills, following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people. At the time, the Ministry of Home Affairs had directed 244 districts to carry out the drills. The drills included blackout exercises, air raid sirens, evacuation protocols, and public awareness sessions. It aimed at preparing civilians for emergencies resembling wartime situations.
