‘Misinformed’: India slams Iran over comments on suffering of Indian Muslims

New Delhi: India on Monday slammed the comments made by Iran’s Supreme Leade Ayatollah Ali Khamenei regarding the treatment of Muslims in India. In a post on X, Khamenei said that Muslims worldwide should be concerned about the suffering of their brethren in various countries, including Myanmar, Gaza and India.

In a sharp rebuke, the Indian government said Khamenei’s remarks were misinformed and unacceptable. “We strongly deplore the comments made regarding minorities in India by the Supreme Leader of Iran,. Countries commenting on minorities are advised to look at their own record before making any observations about others, ” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

(This is a developing story. More details awaited)
