Meerut building collapse: 7 dead, 5 serious injured as rescue operations continue

Meerut: As many as seven people were killed and five people were severely injured after a three-story house collapsed in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh. All the injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The incident occurred at around 5:15 pm on Saturday.

The incident occurred at Zakir Colony of the city. Confirming the incident, officials had initially said that six people were trapped in the incident. Officials reached the spot soon after reaching the spot and started relief operations

“Twelve people got buried under the debris after the sudden collapse of the house. Till now, five people have been taken out from the debris. Of them, three died and two injured have been admitted to Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College,” the relief commissioner’s office had said earlier on Saturday.
