Jiribam violence aftermath

Following the recent violence in Jiribam, CM N Biren Singh said both the central and state governments are taking steps to address the situation which include the removal of AFSPA from six new police station areas, the transfer of the Jiribam killings case to the NIA, and the continuation of mass combing operations against terrorists.

Jiribam killings: Autopsy reveals chilling details

The autopsy reports for the remaining three victims of the Jiribam killings revealed brutal injuries, multiple bullet wounds, and severe trauma, officials confirmed on Wednesday. Previously, post-mortem reports for two women and a child had been released.

On November 17, three women and three children were abducted from the Borobekra area in Jiribam district by suspected Kuki militants after a gunfight with security forces. The bodies were discovered in the Jiri river in Jiribam and the Barak river in Assam’s Cachar in the following days.

Laishram Lamnganba, a 10-month-old infant, suffered a bullet injury to the left knee joint, and both of his eyeballs were missing, as per the autopsy report from the Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) in Assam’s Cachar district. The report detailed multiple lacerations, including wounds to the front chest wall, blunt force injury to the right lower jaw extending to the chin and back of the head, hard blunt trauma to the right shoulder that fractured the humerus, and a wound to the left loin.
