The case involves Nathuni Pal, a 50-year-old man from Deoria in Bihar, who had been missing for years and was believed to have been murdered by his own family.

What is the case?

The story began in 2009 when Nathuni Pal went missing. His paternal uncle, along with his brothers, filed a complaint accusing several relatives of kidnapping and murdering him over a land dispute.

As a result, the family members of Nathuni Pal, including his father, brothers, and another uncle, were arrested and charged with murder. The accusations were so serious that four men served time in jail for the alleged crime, while one of the accused, the uncle, has since passed away.

However, the shocking twist came on January 6, when Jhansi Police were conducting a routine patrol and encountered a man who identified himself as Nathuni Pal, as reported by NDTV. Police records revealed that Pal had been listed as “dead” in Bihar’s police database, making the discovery even more bewildering.

The man was living in Jhansi for the past six months and had been staying alone. He shared that his parents had passed away when he was young, and his wife had left him long ago. Pal admitted that he hadn’t visited Bihar for over 16 years.

What probe revealed

Upon further investigation, the police found that the case was far more complicated than initially thought. Nathuni Pal had been missing since 2009, and his disappearance led to a series of events that culminated in accusations against his family members. His brothers and uncle were accused of murder and jailed, while one of his brothers, a police officer, had his name removed from the investigation after intervention from a senior officer.

Satendra Pal, one of the accused brothers, was in tears when he learned that Nathuni Pal was alive. “We are finally free of the taint of murder,” he said, expressing relief.
