In Uttarpara, a town in Bengal, a man has reportedly killed his wife and four-year-old daughter. The police, after initial probe, thinks that the man tried to commit suicide after perpetrating the murders. When the members of the family found the dead bodies in a room, they also found the man writhing in pain.
The deceased have been identified as Payel Chatterjee who is 25 years old and Adrija Chatterjee, the couple’s 4 years old daughter. The perpetrator is Kashinath Chatterjee. The three were rescued from a house in the Bhadrakali area of Hindmotor on June 11, covered in blood. Among them, Adrija and Payel were found lying dead in the house.
Payal’s husband Kashinath has been admitted to Uttarpara State General Hospital in a critical condition. He is reportedly being shifted to Calcutta Medical College. Kashinath (40) works in a factory. He married Payel about ten years ago. They had two daughters. Family members said that this morning they found three of them covered in blood in the room. The Uttarpara police station was informed and they rushed to the scene.
The initial estimate of the Police is that Kashinath killed his four-year-old daughter and wife with a fruit knife. Then he tried to commit suicide. Kashinath’s eldest daughter, who is seven-year-old, was sleeping with her grandmother in the next room last night, and the Police suspect she survived because of that. Chandannagar Police Commissionerate is investigating whether the incident tool place due to family unrest.
Payel’s mother said, “My eldest grand-daughter sleeps with me. Every morning at 7:30 am, my son-in-law calls me. Today, even after 7:30 am, he didn’t call. Then I went to their room and saw three people lying there.” She said the door was just closed and it opened when she pushed. The police are probing the matter right now.
