Man brutally thrashes monkey with baton, video of incident surfaces

Bilaspur: A horrific incident of animal cruelty has been reported from Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh. A man, who was said to be a drug addict, brutally thrashed a monkey with a baton making it motionless. The incident was caught on camera. The incident took place at Nawagaon, Sipat.

The video of the incident has now gone viral on social media. It is alleged that the accused got upset after the monkey allegedly ate vegetables from his garden. In the video, a man could be heard asking the man not to hit the animal. However, the man did not budge and continue to hit the monkey.

In the second video, the man is seen dragging the animal to the bushes and again beating it. The monkey was seriously injured in the attack.

This made him angry leading to the assault. The injured monkey is currently undergoing treatment. After the incident came to light, a group called ‘Sarva Hindu Samaj’ filed a complaint with the police.

“A video went viral and based on it an FIR has been filed. The Forest Department has also arrested the accused,” said Archana Jha ASP (Rural) Bilaspur.
