New Delhi: Maharaja Jamsaheb of Nawanagar expressed his delight after learning about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s interaction with his extended family in Poland and the tribute he paid at the Jam Saheb of Nawanagar Memorial in Warsaw. He praised the prime minister’s thoughtful gesture, which reflects the spirit and humanity exemplified by the “Good Maharaja” Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja.
PM Modi paid homage at the Jam Saheb of Nawanagar Memorial in Warsaw, Poland, earlier in the day. The statue of Maharaja Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja was built in recognition of his noble act of providing refuge to hundreds of Polish children during World War 2.
Maharaja Jamsaheb expresses gratitude
On the ooccasion, Wg Cdr. (Hon) Shatrushiyasinhji Digvijaysinhji Jadeja, the Maharaja Jamsaheb of Nawanagar, expressed his joy upon learning of the prime minister’s interaction with his extended family in Poland. In a written statement, he said that he has profound respect for the unimaginable trials and hardships endured by the Polish people. He also praised PM Modi’s gesture. He noted that it embodies the same spirit of compassion and humanity that defined Maharaja Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja.
Apart from that, the Maharaja said that to build on this legacy and further strengthen the historical ties between India and Poland, he has requested the prime minister to consider establishing youth, student and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
PM Modi was earlier welcomed by members of the Indian community in Poland. This is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in 45 years. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that PM Modi is set to pay tribute at the Good Maharaja Square, the Monte Cassino Memorial and the Memorial to the Kolhapur Family. He will be the first PM to honour all three of these memorials.
