Bhopal: A shocking case of theft has come to light from Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal. As per the police, a Shivling that was placed under a Peepal tree in the Subhash Colony area of the city was found stolen. The Shivling was found missing when the worshippers reached the Shivling to offer prayers.

Soon, the people of the locality informed the police regarding the incident. However, even as an investigation has started in the case, the police have yet to register an FIR in the matter.

Sharing further details about the incident, Ashoka Garden police station in-charge Hemant Srivastava said that the police reached the spot immediately after receiving the information. Upon reaching they found that while Shivling was missing, the statue of Nandi was lying there. The police have also started scanning the CCTV footage of the surrounding area.

According to the police, a person named Dinesh Goswami lives near the Peepal tree, under which the Shivling was placed. Like every day, he went near the Shivling to offer prayers on Friday morning. However, people got outraged after not finding the Shivling there. They soon gathered more people and reached the police station to file the complaint.

Police suspect that some anti-social elements are behind this incident. However, the police have appealed to the locals to maintain peace in the area. They also assured us that the Shivling will be found as soon as possible.
