One NOTA vote and six invalid votes were recorded

The winning candidate, Devendra Yadav, secured 165 votes, while Gangavati Devi, who came second, received 118 votes. Chirag Sharma, who came third, garnered six votes. Varun Kumar, who came fourth, had to be content with just his own vote. Additionally, one NOTA vote and six invalid votes were recorded. The market is abuzz with conversations about Varun Kumar, the candidate who received only one vote.

A councillor candidate lost by just one vote

In another dramatic incident, a councillor candidate lost by just one vote, leading to a heated demand for a recount. In Haridwar Ward No. 12 Nirmala Cantonment, BJP candidate Kiran Jaisal won the councillor post by a single vote, defeating independent candidate Vikas Kumar (Vicky). The close contest saw Kiran Jaisal leading over Congress candidate Amresh Devi.

Vikas Kumar demanded a recount from the administration

The counting of votes for the civic elections took place at Bhalla Inter College in Haridwar. After losing by one vote, Vikas Kumar demanded a recount from the administration. When his request was denied, he created a ruckus and repeatedly demanded a recount. The situation escalated, prompting the police to intervene and remove Vikas Kumar from the counting venue. These incidents highlight the unpredictable nature of elections and the intense emotions involved in the democratic process.
