Legally permitted structures safe from demolitions says HYDRA

Hyderabad: All real estate projects with legally obtained permits have nothing to fear, Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Monitoring Agency (Hydraa) said on Sunday.

This comes in the midst of rumors circulating that the agency would demolish legally permitted structures near lakes.

The agency highlighted CM Revanth Reddy’s promise that no structures with valid permits would be demolished and this directive would be followed strictly.

Structures within the buffer zone and FTL areas were demolished in Kukatpally, Kistareddypet, Patelguda. Encroachments on government land were removed to reclaim many acres of land in the three areas.

Hydraa has put a temporary break on demolitions in recent weeks and will resume only after ascertaining the extent of ponds, lakes, FTL and buffer zones under Outer Ring Road (ORR).

Hydraa gets additional powers:

The GHMC has approved to give extra powers to the agency to protect public assets like roads, drains, water bodies, open spaces and public parks belonging to the GHMC or to the state government.

Earlier this week, Principal Secretary of Municipal Administration (MAUD) issued a gazette notification under Section 374B of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Act, 1955, which was recently amended by a state ordinance.
