All about Khelo India
Launched in 2017 by the Government of India, the Khelo India initiative aims to strengthen the country’s sports ecosystem by promoting participation among children and youth at the grassroots level. It also focuses on building world-class sports infrastructure and setting up training academies for various disciplines across India.
Under this programme, three major annual sporting events were introduced: the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG), the Khelo India University Games (KIUG), and the Khelo India Winter Games (KIWG). These national-level competitions offer young athletes a platform to represent their states or educational institutions, showcase their abilities, and compete for top honours.
