Khelo India security review: Security beefed up around Patliputra Sports Complex

Patna: Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the successful holding of mega sports event of Khelo India Youth Games 2025 in Bihar which is being held for the first time in the state.

Additional police force have been deployed on all roads leading to Patliputra Sports Complex, Kankerbagh to ensure smooth traffic in and around the area. It would not only ensure hassle free traffic for athletes and their support staff in reaching the sports complex but would also help the spectators in reaching the venue without facing any difficulty.

Bihar’s Sports department Additional Chief Secretary B Rajender, Director General of Police Vinay Kumar and Bihar State Sports Authority Director General Raveendra Sankaran, ADGP (Headquarters) Kundan Krishnan along with other officials took stock of the security arrangements of Patliputra Sports Complex.

They also inspected the arrangements made for the safety and security of the athletes, their coaches and support staff apart from the spectators who are expected to come in large numbers to watch the games.

The top officials of the state also reviewed the traffic arrangements especially the roads leading to Patliputra Sports Complex and gave necessary directions to the senior officials of the Patna police in this regard.

The mega sports event will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 4, 2025 via video conferencing. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish, Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and other dignitaries will also be present on the occasion.

Both opening and closing ceremonies of the event will be held at Patliputra Sports Complex. The mega event will come to an end on May 15.

Around 10,000 athletes including coaches, physiotherapists and other support staff from 28 states and eight union territories will participate at the sports event.

This is the first time that the event is being organised in five cities of Bihar including the state capital.
Athletes will vie for medals in 28 different sporting discipline that will be organised at newly built mega sports complex at Rajgir, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Begusarai apart from the capital city of Patna.

No fee will be charged from the people who wish to watch games at the stadium as the authorities have kept the entry to the stadium absolutely “free”, probably in order to promote the games and energise and enthuse the athletes.

Patna Zonal IG Garima Malik, Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Avkash Kumar and other senior officials of Patna district administration and other departments concerned accompanied the top officials during inspection.
