Kerala: 75-year-old who headed multiple PSU’s booked for raping house help in Kochi

Ernakulam: A shocking case of rape was reported from Ernakulam where a 75-year-old Kerala man accused of raping his domestic help, a 23-year-old Tribal woman from Odisha. The accused remains absconding even as he has moved an anticipatory bail petition which will come up for hearing on Tuesday.

Police have booked K Siva prasad, who had served as the managing director of the State Farming Corporation of Kerala, Horticultural Products Development Corporation, Kerala State Film Development Corporation and Plantation Corporation of Kerala Ltd, for allegedly raping his house help after spiking fruit juice.

According to police, the 23-year-old woman joined as a domestic help at Sivaprasad’s villa early this month. According to the complaint of the woman, Siva prasad allegedly spiked her fruit juice and outraged her modesty. She said in the complaint that she fell unconscious after drinking the juice.

Police reveal that a day after the alleged incident, Siva prasad had left for Guruvayur temple along with his family. On October 16, the woman, who was alone at the house, narrated the incident to her relative, who is working as a help at another house in the area.

Police had initially registered a case on charges of outraging the modesty of a woman, but after medical examination of the survivor, charges for rape were included in the FIR.

The alleged incident happened at his house in Kerala’s Ernakulam district on October 15 when other members of Sivaprasad’s family were away.

The FIR registered on October 17.
