Farooq Abdullah rules out pre poll alliances for JampK Assembly polls

New Delhi: National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah condemned the Gagangeer terror attack resulted in the death of seven people including a doctor. Abdullah asserted that such attacks cannot force Kashmir to become part of Pakistan. He called for an end to the violence and demanded accountability from Pakistan, emphasising that there can be no talks until the killing of innocents stops.

“If Pakistan leadership is really interested in friendship with India, it should stop killing innocents. Kashmir can never become part of Pakistan. I repeat, never ever. They tried it in 1947 by sending rebels and since then they are trying it. Have they succeeded,” Dr Farooq told reporters.

The valley of Kashmir was plunged into sorrow on Monday as the body of Dr Shahnawaz Dar, a beloved doctor tragically killed in a terrorist attack the previous day, arrived at his home in Budgam.

The community, united in grief, condemned the terror attack that took the life of a seven people. Dr Dar, a father of three, was working at a construction site in Gagangeer, Ganderbal, when terrorists opened fire, claiming the lives of six construction workers and the doctor.

His cousin, Advocate Tariq, described Dr Dar as a kind and religious man, leaving behind a wife and three young children. “He was performing his professional duty when he was killed,” Tariq lamented, reflecting the sense of outrage and loss that permeated the community.

The attack sparked widespread condemnation. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah called the incident “cowardly,” and Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha directed the police to track down and punish the perpetrators.

Addressing the Police Commemoration Day in Srinagar, Sinha emphasised that the “threat of terrorism emanating from the neighboring country” continues to plague the region. He called for vigilance against those seeking to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of Jammu and Kashmir.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in his condemnation, highlighted the barbarity of the act, stating that Islam, like all religions, condemns such inhuman behavior. “Islam, like all religions, deplores such inhuman behavior. Every life is precious, and to be lost in this manner is extremely painful. Another grim reminder of the unending cycle of violence and uncertainty we are suffering for decades,” he said.

Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) team has reached the attack site and launched an investigation to explore all the possible angles.
