‘Kashi now evolving into a key healthcare hub in Purvanchal’: PM Modi

Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled on Sunday launched a series of development projects valued at Rs 6,100 crore in the sacred city of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The initiatives encompass multiple airport development projects. According to information from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the prime minister also inaugurated the RJ Sankara Eye Hospital in Varanasi, aimed at offering treatment for a range of eye disorders.

Here are the top quotes from the PM’s address:

  • Kashi, historically a religious and cultural centre, is now evolving into a key healthcare hub in Purvanchal, Uttar Pradesh. In the past decade, major reforms include the trauma centre at BHU, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, and new medical colleges, have taken place.
  • RJ Shankara Eye Hospital aims to illuminate the lives of many in Varanasi and surrounding areas. It will provide care for the elderly and offer treatments for children, ensuring free services for many underprivileged individuals. Apart from that, the hospital will create employment opportunities for local youth.
  • India’s health strategy today is built on five pillars: preventive healthcare to avert diseases before they arise, timely diagnosis of illnesses, affordable treatment and medications, ensuring quality healthcare in small towns to address the shortage of doctors, and the expansion of technology in healthcare.

(This is a developing story.)
