New Delhi: Karwa Chauth the festival of love, light and commitment will be celebrated on October 20, 2024. On this day women will fast before sunrise and till moonrise to impress god and seek blessings for the well-being and long and healthy life of their husbands. They fast without drinking or eating the entire day making them have a sargi ritual early in the morning before sunrise to help them feel energised and full the entire day.
During the evening ladies go out to temples or community places to celebrate a few rituals such as puja in a big group where they perform various activities. In the evening they look at the moon and break the fast by sipping some water and eating some sweets in order to mark the conclusion of fast happily. Performing all the rituals at the right timing and auspicious muhurta is very important to impress the god.
