Nainital: As Kainchi Dham prepares for its grand foundation day celebrations on June 15, authorities have implemented strict traffic regulations and security measures to manage the expected influx of over 4 lakh devotees.
This year, for the first time, the SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal) will be deployed, alongside police, SDRF, PAC, and home guards, ensuring crowd control and safety.
Traffic restrictions and route diversions
To prevent congestion, the Nainital Police have issued a detailed traffic plan, including route diversions and designated parking areas. A zero zone has been created at Kainchi Dham, meaning vehicles will not be allowed near the temple premises.
Shuttle services will operate from Bhawali, Bhimtal, Haldwani, and Nainital, ensuring smooth transportation for devotees.

Vehicle Restrictions:
Large vehicles are completely banned from entering Kainchi Dham. Two-wheelers heading to Kainchi Dham will be stopped at designated checkpoints, including Nariman Tiraha (Kathgodam), Nainital Tiraha (Kaladhungi), and Masjid Tiraha (Bhawali). Essential service vehicles, including roadways buses, ration trucks, and medical supply vehicles, will be allowed to operate.
Security deployment and crowd management
With double the number of devotees expected compared to last year, authorities have intensified security measures. Three PAC companies and over 800 police personnel will be deployed across zones and sectors to ensure smooth operations.
Challenges in crowd control
Despite extensive planning, managing the large influx of devotees remains a significant challenge. Last year, 2 lakh devotees attended, and this year’s anticipated crowd of 4 lakh has prompted additional security reinforcements.
Concerns over bike rentals and traffic congestion
Authorities have banned rental bikes, yet private scooters are still being rented out, contributing to traffic congestion. Reports indicate that even minors are being allowed to rent bikes, raising safety concerns. With strict traffic regulations, shuttle services, and heightened security, authorities aim to ensure a smooth and safe experience for devotees attending Kainchi Dham’s foundation day celebrations.
